Kate Newington – 5 Brockwell Park Row, Tulse Hill SW2 2YH

KATE NEWINGTON has been living and working in Brixton as an artist for over 35 years. She is a figurative artist and works in collage, mixed media and acrylic. She has made approximately 40 collage portraits by commission over the years.

Apart from collage portraiture, a big part of her work has been focussed around the rich tradition of still life in this country, with reference particularly to the work of still life artists past and present who have made and make work in the Southwest. Although she lives in Brixton she often visits St Ives and much of her work is influenced by Cornish vistas and the art culture of that area.

As well as showing work locally in South London, she is a member of the Society of Women Artists and shows regularly at Mall Galleries in central London, the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, with the Bath Society of Artists and more locally at The Lovely Gallery in Sydenham. instagram
